[SOLVED] Remote Desktop: Identity Failed
Hi. I'm running Windows Vista Business and I'm not able to log into Windows Server 2008 thorugh Remote Desktop. Here's the message: "Remote Desktop cannot verify the identity of the remote computer because there is a time or date difference between your computer and the remote computer. Make sure your computer's clock is set to the correct time, and then try connecting again. If the problem occurs again, contact your network administrator or the owner of the remote computer." Okay. Three things: The date is the same and the time in Windows Vista is as accurate as Windows Server 2008. I AM a network administrator. I OWN the server. I know I have to take a risk of compromising security but is there a way to bypass the message? "Always connect, even if authentication fails" doesn't help... Because I don't have a KVM switch, I'd hate toswitch the VGA/USB to my server to try and correct the problemand Idon't like having to switch from my laptop to my computer (I use a 32" HDTV with my wireless keyboard and mouse). This is also true if I have a server--like so--in the closet and I use my laptop for everyday use. Update: Well, it's working now. It's strange, but it seems like I have to try to log in some other time, like one day later after I get the message. Thanks.

I just had the same problem connecting from one Win7 box to another Win7 box. What helped me was changing a connection setting from "Automatically detect RD Gateway server settings" to "Do not use an RD Gateway server" in Options-->Advanced-->Settings.
